How to set the maximum window for transfers
Set a deadline (up to 24h before the event, say) to block last-minute transfers.
An event's transfer deadline sets how late somebody can start a transfer. Once the deadline passes, nobody can start a new one: the request is refused. Whoever tries gets a "transfer window closed" error. That heads off last-minute confusion at check-in and protects the organizer from late fraud.
Step by step
Open the event in the dashboard and scroll down to the Transfer settings section.
In the Transfer deadline field, pick the cut-off date and time. Want to go back to no deadline? Just clear the field — blank means no deadline at all.
Click Save deadline.
What happens at the deadline
Once the deadline passes:
- Nobody can start a new transfer. The Transfer button stays on screen, but tapping it tells the person the window has closed
- Transfers already pending (started before the deadline) remain valid and can still be accepted as normal — they do not disappear or expire on their own
- A gift made at checkout is not affected (it is assigned at purchase, and is not a transfer)
Why use a deadline
- It avoids a hand-over at check-in: if a transfer is accepted 5 minutes before the event, staff may see the old name on screen and turn the person away by mistake
- It cuts down fraud: scalpers tend to transfer at the last minute to make tracking harder
- It simplifies the operation: the check-in team knows the name list is stable from the deadline onwards

Transfers started before and accepted after
What counts for the deadline is starting the transfer, not accepting it. In other words: if the transfer was started before the deadline, the recipient can still accept after it passes — and that is the moment the QR changes hands. The deadline only blocks starting a new transfer.
