How to publish, pause, and end an event
Control your event's life cycle straight from the dashboard — publish it, pause sales, and end it whenever you want.
An event on Baila goes through three main sales states: draft (not publicly visible), published (selling tickets), and ended (no more sales). This guide explains how to drive each transition.
Publishing an event
In the dashboard, open the event under Events → click the event you want.
Before publishing, give the basics a once-over: title, date, venue, your tiers, and the cover image. That is just good practice — the only real blocker is that if you have paid tiers, you need a validated payment method already in place.
Click Publish at the top of the page. The change is immediate: within a few seconds the public event page is live and the event shows up in the public listings.
Pausing sales
Pausing is handy when you want to stop selling temporarily without ending the event — to adjust prices, say, or to open a new tier.
Open the event and click Pause in the action bar at the top of the page.
Confirm in the modal. While the event is paused, the public page goes offline entirely (anyone opening the link sees a "not found" page) and nobody can buy. Tickets already sold stay valid as normal.
To sell again, click Resume on the same screen. The public page comes back immediately.
Ending the event
Ending is not the same as cancelling: ending only stops future sales; tickets already sold stay valid for check-in.
Ending cannot be undone from the interface. Once you end an event, you have to contact support to reopen sales. Tickets already sold stay valid — ending does not cancel purchases.
Open the event and click End in the action bar.
A modal opens showing a short code on screen. Type that same code into the confirmation field — it is just a guard against an accidental click.
Click End event. The event drops out of the listings and the public page goes offline too — anyone opening the link sees a "not found" page. People who already bought keep reaching their ticket through the My Tickets area, not through the event page.
Cancelling vs ending
- End: stops sales and keeps tickets already sold valid
- Cancel: stops sales and invalidates every ticket for the event
Cancelling is also something you do yourself, right there in the action bar: click Cancel and confirm in the modal (with the same short code as ending). Be careful, because every ticket is invalidated. If you need to give buyers their money back, bulk refunds still go through support — get in touch and we will help you with that.
