How to set up free events
Free events on Baila — no fee, no gateway, with QR Code check-in.
Free events are fully supported on Baila and do not require a configured Asaas gateway. They are ideal for cultural events, workshops, launches, or meetups — you can issue QR Codes and run check-in at no cost.
How free events work
On free events: zero Baila fee, no gateway required, ticket issued on the spot once the buyer signs up. There is no payment to process — the buyer fills in their details and receives the QR Code by email within seconds.
Step by step
In the dashboard, click Create event and fill in the basics as usual (title, date, venue, image).
On the Lots step — the dashboard's name for ticket tiers — add a tier and type 0 in the price field. A tier priced at R$ 0,00 is a free tier.
Set the tier's quantity and sales window as usual — free does not mean unlimited, you still control the total released.
You do not need to connect Asaas: an event with only free tiers publishes with no gateway whatsoever. The gateway connection lives under Settings > Payment and is only required once you have at least one paid tier.
Publish the event. The button on the public page is still Buy Ticket, but at checkout the total shows as Free (R$ 0,00) and the ticket is issued on the spot.
Per-CPF limit on free events
Even on free events you can turn on the per-CPF limit (CPF is the Brazilian taxpayer ID). That stops one person from grabbing dozens of tickets just to resell them or never show up — each CPF is capped at N tickets (tracked through lifetimeAcquired, so cancel-and-grab-again does not reset it).
Mixed events (free + paid)
You can create mixed events with free and paid tiers on the same page. In that case the Asaas gateway does need to be configured (since at least one tier is paid), but the free tiers stay fee-exempt.
